My Teaching Ethos.

Learning should be fun. People are different to eachother and therefore require to be taught in a way that makes the individual pupil enjoy playing the instrument. Its quite simple, bombarding most pupils with homework and grade books makes the pupil (in most cases) start to see drumming as a chore, this is usually the case with children. However there are always exceptions. After gaging an individuals requirements, the level of homework/practice needed for growth set against the ability to concentrate, understand and the want to progress, only then can a teacher understand the pupils needs and plan propperly for the individuals musical growth. Many pupils get frustrated, frustration on an instrument needs to be harnessed and turned into an enjoyable challenge with reachable goals. Then the pupil will see real progression which leads to the want for more challenges, and so the cycle starts...

About me.

My name is Lewis Hornsby. I am a musician from Newport South Wales and specialise in drum tuition. I studied music (Bmus Hons) at the Birmingham Conservatoire majoring in performance. I drumming studied under the tuition of Gene Calderazzo and composition under the tuition of Mike Gibbs. I have been fortunate enough to travel to many parts of the world playing drums in many ensembles and have also played bass guitar and acoustic guitar in other groups. I enjoy teaching and following the progress of my pupils.
